Limousine Driver Dies Days After Medical Event On I-91, CT State Police Say

Connecticut State Police announced that a limousine driver who was hospitalized after suffering a medical event on I-91 has died.

The man who experienced the medical incident in Hartford County on Friday, Feb. 4, has died, according to an update from Connecticut State Police on Monday, Feb. 7.

State Police received a report from one of the limousine's passengers that the driver was unconscious at about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, State Police previously reported.

The vehicle had been transporting a flight crew to Bradley International Airport on I-91 northbound and was near Exit 34 in the town of Windsor when the incident took place. 

Troopers worked with EMS medics to provide medical assistance at the scene, and troopers drove the ambulance to the hospital while medics administered care, police said. 

"Despite the valiant life-saving efforts of our Troopers, EMS, hospital staff and the flight crew that was being transported, it is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we report that the limousine driver did not survive," State Police said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the driver's family and friends during this difficult time."

The man's identity was not released.
